For the first time Bangladesh University Startup Accelerator launching program was held on November 19, 2019 at Krishibid Institution, Dhaka. Honorable state minister, ICT Division Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP graced the program as chief guest while chairman BUT, BU, Quazi Jamil Azher was in the chair. Grameenphone CEO Mr. Michael Patrick Foley was present as special guest. Mr. Chris Burry, CEO & Pro-Founder of US Market Access, 2020 Technology Landscape in Silicon Valley was the key note speaker of the program.

The goal of Startup Accelerator is to foster and nurture local entrepreneurship and innovative ecosystem within Bangladesh and beyond. It helps build regional and global connectively among investors, entrepreneurs, professionals and provide a collaboration platform for all participants in the ecosystem.

Chief Guest of the program Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, in his speech appreciated the time befitting initiative taken by the BU authority. He also underscored the impact of the program upon the new creative entrepreneurs in ICT sector. To reach the target of achieving the status of middle-income country by 2021 & rich country by 2041, those innovative entrepreneurs will play a vital role, he added. He explained the government strategies and limitless prospects in this sector to boost up the economy. He also highlighted the importance of ideas of quantum computing, nanotech, fintech discussed by the key note speaker and extended his thanks to him.

The chairman of BU and chair of the program, Quazi Jamil Azher informed the participants and guests about the objectives of the program and reassured BU’s stand & continuous initiatives taken to build a huger free, poverty free Bangladesh and to contribute to escalate the national economy of Bangladesh as per our expectation.

The speakers of the program appreciate BU authority to host this sort of a program. Besides, the huge number of Startups, entrepreneurs, BU Vice Chancellor, Registrar, representative of UNDP, BoT members, all heads of the departments and high officials of BU were present. Nagorik TV, Kaler Kantho, Barta24, Turtle Venture, Red Canvas, Youth Co:LAB, Digital Khichuri Challenge, Bangladesh Angels, GP Accelerator, Women & e-Commerce & POP of Color were the medium partners of the program.
