“Where One Journey Ends, Another Begins: Orientation of the 48th Batch and Farewell to the 40th Batch — Department of Pharmacy, Bangladesh University”

There is an hour in every semester when time forgets to move in a single direction — when arrival and departure meet at the same gate, and neither can be told apart from the other. On the second morning of August, 2026, Sunday that hour came to rest upon the permanent campus of Bangladesh University, where the Department of Pharmacy gathered not once, but twice in spirit: to open its arms to the 48th Batch, and to open its hands and let the 40th Batch go.
Four years is a season long enough to grow roots, and long enough, too, to learn how to be uprooted gently. Those who once walked these corridors as strangers now walk them as those the corridors will remember — their names pressed like leaves into the pages of this place. And even as their footsteps fade toward the horizon, new footsteps arrive, uncertain and bright-eyed, not yet knowing that they too will one day be legend to someone else’s beginning.
Such a passage does not happen unwitnessed. It was held, tenderly, in the presence of those who keep this garden of knowledge:

To the 48th Batch: you have arrived at the edge of something vast. Let these halls teach you slowly. Let your questions outnumber your certainties for now — that is how roots begin. To the 40th Batch: what you carry away from here was never meant to stay behind these walls. Go, and let it become the medicine you offer the world.
When evening finally leaned its shoulder against the sky, the campus loosened into celebration. Music rose like incense over the courtyard; the students of the Department of Pharmacy became, for those hours, not scientists-in-training but poets of movement and sound — dancing as though farewell and welcome were, after all, the very same dance, performed in two directions at once.
And so the day did not end. It simply changed its name and walked on.
