Bangladesh University Observes UN International Youth Day 2025
Dhaka, 12 August 2025 – The Department of Pharmacy, Bangladesh University, celebrated the United Nations International Youth Day 2025 in line with this year’s theme and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by planting rare and endangered medicinal plants in the university’s Medicinal Plant Garden.
The program was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Registrar Brig. Gen. Md. Mahbubul Haque, Deans Professor Dr. Md. Tajul Islam and Professor Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Heads of the Departments Ar. Sheikh Itmam Soud Architecture), Umma Kulsum (Math) along with the Head and advisor of Pharmacy department Professor Abul Kalam Azad and Professor Dr. S. M. Abdur Rahman respectively.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness on biodiversity conservation, traditional medicinal knowledge, and youth-led environmental stewardship, directly supporting SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The event concluded with a rally across the campus reaffirming the commitment of young people to sustainable community action. Bangladesh University Pharmacy Students Club was the organizer of the entire program.
